GALLICA - Historical and Archaeological Interpretation
Round House Interiors

David Freeman - Experimental Archaeology

Over the last 40 years, the author has worked with, and built, many round houses. During that time, the opportunity had arisen where it has been possible to furnish and decorate some of those buildings.

These pages are to document, and make public, some of that work. As time has gone by, more evidence and artifacts have come to light, making each experiment more thorough and life like.
You will notice some of the contents are the same in more than one house. This is because the author had gathered a large number of personal items over the years, and had taken these with him as he had traveled.

Not all of these house are still intact, some have been dismantled for a number of reasons.
Hopefully this will give you an insight into the possible comfort our ancestors achieved in their home life.
