P 109. One-half of an ornamented bowl. (Restored).
Type XXXII.
Max. ext. diam. of rim 9.063 in. max. ext. diam. of bulge 9.19 in. max.
height 4.69 in. max. diam. of base 4.25 in.
Ware hard-baked and heavy, vanes in thickness from 0.28 in. to 0.44 in.
Paste light grey colour, coarse-grained, mixed with large quantity of
grit, quartz and calcite. Fxt. surface grevish-brown colour, smooth where
not weathered, gritty to the touch. Int. surface greyish-brown, uneven.
gritty to the touch. Rim ornamented on ext. surface with a semicircular
band, and on the upper surface with a projecting bead which is bordered
on either side by a groove. The bulge is ornamented above with a narrow
band shaded with diagonal lines, and below this bv a band of waved design,
3.38 in. in depth, the curves of which are alternately reversed. The spaces
are shaded with boldly-incised cross-hatching, and the whole pattern is
bordered below by a narrow band shaded with diagonal lines. The base is
also ornamented.

P 110. Base of large pan with one perforation made after baking.
Max. diam. (approx.) 5.5 in.
Ware coarse, heavy, flaky and badly baked. Paste greyish-buff, mixed with
quantity of stone, and some shell ; largest pieces of stone measure 0.5
in. in diam. Ext. surface brownish-grey, flecked with white spots, pitted
with holes. Int. surface black, uneven, but fairly smooth. Perforation
not quite circular ; diam. at inner surface 0.81 in, ; diam. at outer
surface 0.62 in.

P 113. Bowl with ornamented side and base. Type XXX.
Max. ext. diam. of rim 9.75 in. ; max. ext. diam. of bulge l0.38 in. max.
diam. of base 4.75 in. ; average thickness of base 0.25 in. ; the foot
is raised 0.38 in.

Ware hard-baked, varies from grey to red, heavy ; average
thickness 0.38 in. Paste mixed with quantity of quartz grit. Ext. surface
varies from light red to black, smooth burnished, where weathered surface
is gritty. Int. surface varies from black to light red near the rim, smooth.
Rim round except at one place where it is flattened. Foot slightly depressed
on inner surface.
Ornamented below the rim by a band 3 in. in depth with a pattern consisting
of a waved design shaded with cross-hatching enclosing comma-and-balloon-shaped
spaces arranged horizontally. Bordered above with four girth grooves shaded
diagonally, and below by two girth grooves with similar shading.
