Back to the Iron Age
The first episode, in the first
of two series.
The premise was to take two modern people back into a historical scenario,
and give them the opportunity to try out an early version of their modern jobs.
The series was presented by Jon Monie
The series was filmed and broadcast by Meridian
TV.
Since then it has done the rounds of cable and satellite
Our episode concerned a builder, and a cake
decorator,
and took place at Newbarn Field Centre, Dorchester, Dorset.
We also had assistance from Brigantia, a re-enactment group.
Bill, the builder was to assist in the construction
of an oak-framed building,
under the guidance of David Freeman.
His partner, Julie, was to bake bread and cakes, iron-age style,
under the guidance of Ann Phipps
