Sword


Swords were high class weapons. The Celtic sword developed into a long slashing weapon that was dificult to stop. A great deal of effort went into the finest swords, with hardened edges and cast bronze handles. Some, like the one from Kirkburn in Yorkshire, had a handle on iron, horn, and bronze, with decorations of red enamel.
Scabards were also decorated. Here is an iron scabard that has been decorated with engravings (chiseled into the surface)
