Clothing

Looking Good

Clothing finds are rare, due to the delicate nature of fabric, but in a select number of sites, like peat bogs, items do survive. Recently, mummified bodies have been found on the borders of China, that have very well preserved clothing with all colours intact.

On the left is a view of British nobles as envisioned by Peter Connolly, who has produced artwork for museums all over the world.

»
On the right is an illustration from a Danish book on prehistoric textiles. This clothing is based on British and Danish burials

«
Another picture from the same book, and as you can see, the clothing is quite sophisticated.

»
This is an example of reconstructed clothing (the young lady is drop-spinning)

«
A close up view of a bronze chain belt. A number of these have been found across Europe.

»
This is another example of reconstruction. By making and wearing the clothes, you can work out extra features based on practical or comfort considerations (but remember fashion can override these)
