Butser Ancient Farm

Events 2008

Entry in the normal way, at the gate, on the day, except for special events, such as Beltain, when details for getting tickets will be published separately nearer the date.

Weekend Events will have the site manned by the Friends and Volunteers of the farm. They will be there to talk to the public, give demonstrations, and lead some of the activities that will run throughout the day.

The Farm is open from 10am - 5pm
Special Events have can have different opening times

Dogs are allowed on site, but must be kept on a lead.

Visitors are welcome to exercise their dogs in the car park and public footpaths are within easy reach.

QUEST OF LIGHT

Calling all Heros

Ever wanted to be the Hero in a story, and not just listen to someone else's adventure?
Well now you can!
A dark Adversary has stolen the summer sun, and Butser Ancient Farm needs all brave and daring heroes to overcome the challenges and obstacles to bring it back. Through stories, puzzles and team work our heroes must defeat the Adversary and win the day.

Starts at 2pm (allow up to 2hrs)
£6 per Hero, booking in advance is advisable

Celtic Storytelling Workshops

“Myths move not with words but with storytellers…
and where ever you find people… you’ll find storytellers.”

DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THIS HOLIDAY!
Spend a day in an Iron Age farmstead exploring Celtic myths of heroes, battles, magic and rescues, and learning the skills of the ancient bards and storytellers. Through drama and your own imaginations build towards creating and telling your own tales. A fun packed day for all 8-14yrs’ interested in Celtic/Iron age life, storytelling, theatre skills, looking to develop confidence, and make new friends.

This was the time when the Iron Age Celts celebrated the new year.

Activities and storytelling for children with Red Phoenix.

Evening Event - 7-10pm

The evening starts with storytelling, singing, and music in the Great Roundhouse.
There will be a bar, baked spuds, and BBQ.
The evening culminates in a grand bonfire (bring a contribution of wood to go on the fire)

Normal entrance fees apply for the evening event.
No booking required, just dress warm and turn up.
